Hello!
As we wrap up the Pride in Sport Festival activities, I wanted to reach out and thank all those who came down to check out the club and give volleyball a go. Providing beginners sessions to the community has always been central to what we do at Perth Scorpions. It's been incredible to provide these sessions for free and I hope that you now feel comfortable to get on the court and have a hit - whether it be here or anywhere else.
Now that these sessions are coming to an end you may be asking, what's next?
Community Training and Social Games:
If you don’t already know, we provide beginner-intermediate level training year round! We are the only club in WA offering weekly drop-in skills training for beginners and this is incredibly important to me on a personal level. Without this option, I would not have felt comfortable enough to start a new sport (especially such a technical one), and would never have had all the amazing opportunities that have come along with it ^^
These training sessions, along with our casual Saturday social games, make up our community volleyball stream. This is a low commitment, all-levels option, all about building community, having a go, and playing volleyball!
In breaking news, we are trialing a new(ish) format for Saturday Community Volleyball. Due to the success of the free sessions, we are continuing free training until further notice !! From the 7th of June, here's how it will work:
Saturdays:
- 10:00am-12:00pm Casual Social Games ($9)
- 12:00-1:00pm Community Training (Free !!)
Until then, enjoy free games and training on Saturdays while we wrap up the Pride in Sport festivities.
Pride in Sport Survey (Win $50!!):
We’re calling this a trial as we want to hear what you think. Anyone who has been down to a Pride in Sport session since the start of March is elligible to fill out this 10 minute survey, and enter into the draw to win a $50 Visa Debit Card.
The data gained from this survey will help us to assess the quality of our training sessions and to adapt the program to meet your needs. It will also help us meet our reporting requirements to Pride in Sport, and support us in gaining future funding. We expect around 40 responses for this survey which means you’ve got a 1/40 chance of winning! TVB Social Competitive League: Its not too late to enter teams into the TVB Social League at Loftus Rec Centre. Get your teams in quick by emailing james.benjamin@

- May 9th - July 18th
- B and C grades
- $1200 per team (~$200 pp)
WAVL: The WAVL Season is in full force and we have submitted a record number of teams - including our first women’s team! Not bad for our second season in the League. This is our option for Intermediate-Advanced players and requires a bigger commitment from participants. See James’ May update for more details on how our teams are ranking.
The rest of the committee and I are very proud of the strides the club has taken in recent months and we hope you join us for the exciting direction we are headed - whether you join a team or join us for a hit every now and then.
