Code of Conduct

Perth Scorpions Member Code of Conduct

 

Any member found to be in breach of the following Code of Conduct and policies, may be subject to disciplinary action.

1. Members must review and uphold this Code of Conduct.

2. Members must review the club’s Diversity and Inclusion Framework and uphold their responsibilities under that framework.

3. Members must conduct themselves in a manner which upholds the good reputation of the Perth Scorpions at all Perth Scorpions events, including (without limitation) games, training, tours, social events and club trips. Actions that could bring the club into disrepute are prohibited and include, but are not limited to, behaviour which is violent or which should reasonably be understood to unduly hurt, humiliate or offend any other person.

4. Members must treat with respect all members of the Perth Scorpions, other clubs and other individuals and groups with which the Perth Scorpions have a relationship.

5. Club members must not use social media or other public forums to raise issues or grievances where doing so might reflect negatively on the Perth Scorpions or otherwise represent that the club holds a particular view on any issues or grievances which has not been endorsed by the committee. This includes issues or grievances concerning the Perth Scorpions, other members, sponsors, venues, members of the wider volleyball and inclusive sport communities, or other individuals.

6. The club is an inclusive and safe space for all, it is required that during club events that all players ensure all members are made to feel actively welcomed.

7. No members should be made to feel pressured into partaking in any activity.

8. Use of club kit and branding is acceptable on social media platforms which are not primarily for the purposes of dating or sex where the club and its values are represented positively.

9. Usage of club kit and branding is not permitted on social media platforms which are primarily for the purposes of dating or sex.

10. Members must be mindful of the safety and welfare of other members on and off the court and not engage in behaviours which deliberately or recklessly endanger other members.

11. Only the committee and those specifically authorised by the committee may engage in discussions of a commercial or strategic nature on behalf of the Perth Scorpions or otherwise enter into or suggest that the Perth Scorpions may enter into any legally binding arrangement.

12. Members must use all reasonable efforts to deal with personal issues in a manner which does not interfere with club or team morale or otherwise affect the ability of the Perth Scorpions to engage in the activities and further the values for which it was established.

13. Members must not participate in training or games if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, including from the night prior and may be prohibited from participating in training or games if their behaviour raises a suspicion that they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Drug and alcohol policy

The Perth Scorpions committee and leadership team (Trainers and Captains) may exclude or remove any player from any ‘Official Scorpions event’ if they are suspected of being too intoxicated or under the influence of illicit drugs. The Perth Scorpions committee may provide ‘Designated Responsible People’ at all ‘Official Scorpions events’, who have the responsibility and authority to remove any member suspected of being too intoxicated or under the influence of illicit drugs.

Event Hierarchy

Official Scorpions Events

These events include fundraising events, game days (including both playing and spectating), training and club social events, and are strictly governed by the Code of Conduct and Drug and Alcohol Policy. All members attending represent the club, and as such, are expected to behave in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Drug and Alcohol Policy. These events are limited to the official start and end time of the event.

Scorpion supported events

These events include events by other social and sporting groups which we attend representing the club. These events are not governed by the Perth Scorpions, and as such, are not governed by our Drug and Alcohol Policy. The Code of Conduct still applies to these events and you are expected to represent the club positively.

Other Scorpion attended events

These events are any other events that Perth Scorpion members are in attendance. These events are not governed by the Code of Conduct or Drug and Alcohol Policy. However, antisocial behaviour toward other members at any time, may be grounds for disciplinary action.
